Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit a number of experienced Design Engineers to join a leading global business in the Burnley area. The role will involve design and development of capital equipment used in the packaging industry. This is a full-time permanent opportunity with an industry leader in their field.
Candidates will ideally be qualified to a minimum HND if not degree level in a relevant Mechanical engineering discipline with a demonstrable background in design and development of mechanical products. Experience with AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks are a must for this position. Experience in design using sheet metal would be advantageous.
Hours: 5 days on site – flexible start/finish times available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce complete detail drawings of components from new designs and/or from previous customer repeat/duplicate designs.
- Complete AutoCAD / SolidWorks detail drawings under direction of Senior Engineers.
- Construct full Bills of Material (BOM’s) on drawings and electronically via engineering software.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
- Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay‑out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
- Check through engineering drawings prior to release.
- Review and analyse specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Perform engineering calculations to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
- Collaborate with Project engineers and other engineers within the team.
- Maintain filing systems.
- Lay‑out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Education and/or Experience:
- Mechanical Engineering qualification to HND/Degree level or equivalent experience in a related engineering design field.
- Strong demonstrable background within a mechanical design role.
- Experience working with Fabrication/Weldments/Sheet metal products.
- Excellent knowledge of Design and Manufacturing Techniques.
- Experienced using AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks.
- Experience dealing with and presenting to customers is advantageous.
