Overview

Bristol – An opportunity has arisen in the transforming Technical Publications department within MBDA. The purpose of this role is to analyse, develop and deliver the Technical Publications for a complex portfolio of MBDA's products across the Land and Sea domains.

Salary: £40,000 to £46,000, depending on experience.

Dynamic (hybrid) working: We aim to accommodate a blended approach to on‑site and remote working – typically 2–3 days in the office per week.

Security Clearance: British or dual UK national with British citizenship. Successful candidates will need to undergo BPSS checks after offer.

Responsibilities

You will be placed at the forefront of engineering documentation, working closely with a number of internal and international teams across industry and government groups.

  • Provide technical expertise to ensure design teams have a clear understanding of the publication development, production and upkeep process.
  • Support and develop complex engineering descriptive and procedural documentation.
  • Adapt to different authoring formats including SGML, S1000D‑based authoring tools, BREX, CSDB environments and associated reports.
  • Assist in demonstration or process proving activities at alternative MBDA sites or the Customer's location, in the UK or overseas.
  • Liaise with product suppliers to support technical publication technologies and maintain accurate technical publication activity records.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in technical authoring, particularly SGML.
  • Familiarity with S1000D authoring tools and related standards.
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and maintain a professional, collaborative attitude.
  • Understanding of military operational and maintenance documentation is a plus.
