The RoleThe Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading electrical design packages from concept through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards while meeting programme and budget requirements. Projects span a variety of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, and public sector developments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and specification of electrical building services systems.
- Prepare detailed electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems, and small power installations.
- Produce engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
- Undertake electrical load assessments and coordinate utility connections.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical support throughout project lifecycles.
- Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, BS 7671, CIBSE guidance, and relevant industry standards.
- Review and oversee project deliverables produced by junior engineers and technicians.
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their technical development.
- Assist with project management activities, including programme and resource planning.
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience within a Building Services consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical building services design and UK industry standards.
- Experience delivering projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, or similar sectors.
- Proficiency in industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Amtech, Dialux, Relux, or similar design tools.
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
- Salary of £45,000 – £58,000 depending on experience.
