Our client is building a high performing UK nuclear capability and is seeking an experienced civil design engineer who relishes technical ownership, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to shape some of the most high‑profile infrastructure projects in the country.
This is a rare opportunity to join a newly established UK arm of a globally recognised engineering group, where you'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex, safety‑critical projects while helping to grow a leading design engineering team in the industry.
The Opportunity
You'll be working on world‑class nuclear new build programmes, including Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, alongside a strong future pipeline of UK nuclear projects. Acting as a technical leader, you will take ownership of work packages and provide civil engineering expertise throughout detailed design and construction phases. You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, project teams, and stakeholders, operating in a highly regulated environment where quality, safety, and precision are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical leadership and management of civil engineering work packages
- Coordination and resolution of complex engineering challenges across multiple stakeholders
- Structural analysis using FEM software (Analyst experience desirable)
- Technical oversight of reinforced concrete design and reinforcement detailing
- Review of detailing models and drawings to ensure quality and compliance
- Developing strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Supporting tenders and contributing to future project bids
Qualifications
Essential requirements:
- Degree (BEng/MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards, and nuclear design codes
- Experience delivering work packages on major infrastructure projects
- Experience working in a highly regulated UK industry (nuclear highly desirable)
Desirable:
- Experience with Ansys or similar FEM software
- Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE) or equivalent experience
- Strong experience in reinforced concrete design and assessment
- Programming or automation skills
Please note: you must be able to gain Security Clearance through British or join – this role requires security clearance.
