A great opportunity to join an established, respected manufacturing business in Bristol. My client is looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their expanding team. You will work out of their purpose-built facility located in Bristol, 15 minutes from exit 3 on the M32. The successful candidate will ensure sub-assemblies are manufactured and installed correctly to specification and on time. The role has arisen through growth, and the opportunity is in place for someone to develop existing skills and learn new ones.

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Fitter
  • Bench fitting work
  • Build of mechanical sub-assemblies
  • Set-up & alignment of machine frames
  • Set-up and alignment of tooling, to achieve specified tolerances/capability
  • Functional testing and fault finding
  • Use of conventional machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders, etc.) and hand tools as appropriate
  • Identify & communicate opportunities to enhance quality and reduce cost
  • Support visits to customers as required to commission & test machines, and resolve problems
  • Work with and support other departments to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Ensure statutory and company procedures & practices are maintained
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Booking of time to assigned work
Qualifications & Requirements – Mechanical Fitter
  • Completed recognised mechanical apprenticeship or technical training programme
  • City & Guilds or NVQ qualification
  • Good working knowledge of machine build protocols, preferably gained within a packaging machinery environment
  • Knowledge of robotic systems would be an advantage
  • Current clean driving license and passport
