Overview

Graduate Structural Engineer – Bristol. Salary £30,000–£33,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the structural design and analysis of projects from concept through to completion.
  • Produce structural calculations, technical reports, specifications and design information.
  • Design structures using steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
  • Work closely with senior engineers, technicians and other members of the project team.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design professionals.
  • Support the delivery of projects in accordance with UK building regulations, design codes and industry standards.
  • Attend site visits, inspections and project meetings as required.
  • Develop technical knowledge, commercial awareness and project management skills.
  • Take on increasing levels of responsibility as experience and capability develop.
  • Work towards professional chartership with the ICE and/or IStruct E.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 1–2 years of structural engineering experience, ideally gained within a UK consultancy.
  • Sound understanding of structural engineering and design principles.
  • Some experience producing structural calculations and technical design information.
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations, Eurocodes and relevant industry standards.
  • Exposure to structural design, analysis, BIM or CAD software is advantageous.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for learning and professional development.
  • Aspiration to progress towards Chartered Engineer status.
