Overview
Graduate Structural Engineer – Bristol. Salary £30,000–£33,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the structural design and analysis of projects from concept through to completion.
- Produce structural calculations, technical reports, specifications and design information.
- Design structures using steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Work closely with senior engineers, technicians and other members of the project team.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design professionals.
- Support the delivery of projects in accordance with UK building regulations, design codes and industry standards.
- Attend site visits, inspections and project meetings as required.
- Develop technical knowledge, commercial awareness and project management skills.
- Take on increasing levels of responsibility as experience and capability develop.
- Work towards professional chartership with the ICE and/or IStruct E.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 1–2 years of structural engineering experience, ideally gained within a UK consultancy.
- Sound understanding of structural engineering and design principles.
- Some experience producing structural calculations and technical design information.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations, Eurocodes and relevant industry standards.
- Exposure to structural design, analysis, BIM or CAD software is advantageous.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for learning and professional development.
- Aspiration to progress towards Chartered Engineer status.
