A leading organisation in the defence and security sector is looking for a Project Engineer to join an established Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) projects function. The role sits within a digital and radiation effects focused team, working on electromagnetic modelling and simulation, and supporting qualification and risk-reduction strategies across complex engineering programmes. This is a good fit for someone with a strong grounding in electronics/electromagnetics, plus modelling and simulation experience, who enjoys combining technical work with project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the development and deployment of digital proving techniques and methodologies
- Applying quality assurance approaches to electromagnetic modelling and simulation, including verification and validation activities
- Contributing to risk-reduction and qualification strategies that support efficient delivery into service
- Producing engineering documentation such as environmental requirement specifications and supporting evidence packs
- Collaborating with parallel EMC project teams, including opportunities to review hardware and support investigative testing where required
What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Degree-level education (or significant equivalent experience) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, EMC or similar
- Experience using simulation solvers such as FEM, FIT, or similar numerical methods
- Experience with SPICE simulation tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound understanding of electronic technologies
- Able to deliver to deadlines and within agreed budgets
Desirable:
- Exposure to EM simulation tools such as CST Studio or ANSYS HFSS
- Verification and validation (V&V) experience for numerical solvers
- Defence, aerospace, or other regulated engineering background
- CAD experience in any package
- Knowledge of radiation effects, EMC design principles, or EMC support delivery
- Familiarity with military/industry EMC standards (for example Def Stan 59-114 / 59-411, AECTP 500, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160 / EUROCAE ED-14)
What's on offer:
- Bonus scheme (performance-related, varies year to year)
- Pension (combined employer and employee contribution up to 14%)
- Paid overtime opportunities
- Flexi leave (up to 15 additional days)
- Flexible working arrangements where possible
- Enhanced parental leave
- On-site facilities and free parking
- Healthcare cash plan
