An established, global Engineering and Environmental Consultancy is looking to bring in an Associate‑level Flood Modeller to strengthen their growing water and flood risk team in Bristol. The role involves technical delivery, team coordination and project oversight, with the opportunity to progress into senior responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across a wide range of flood modelling projects.
  • Oversee development, execution and review of hydraulic and hydrological models to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide projects from early concept through to submission, working closely with clients and ensuring alignment with Environment Agency standards and UK best practice.
  • Build and review complex models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, ESTRY and InfoWorks ICM.
  • Apply FEH methodologies, rainfall‑runoff modelling and flood frequency analysis.
  • Interpret outputs and translate findings into clear actionable insights for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Implement QA/QC processes, review and sign off models, data inputs and reports.
  • Mentor and support junior and mid‑level modellers, manage workload and coordinate daily team activities.
  • Support business development activities, including bid preparation, proposals and future workstream development.

Qualifications

  • Degree‑qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong experience in flood modelling and background in leading or checking technical delivery.
  • Proven experience using industry‑standard software (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, ESTRY, InfoWorks ICM).
  • Experience in QA and sign‑off of models.
  • Solid understanding of UK policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to mentor others and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Chartered status (CIWEM or similar) advantageous but not essential.
