Overview

White Label is working with a well-established specialist valve manufacturer in Brighouse that is currently in a period of significant growth and expansion.

They require an experienced Senior Valve Design Engineer to join their team.

As Senior Valve Design Engineer, you will lead the design concept and development of new valve ranges, as well as the ongoing development of existing product lines.

You will liaise closely with the manufacturing department, providing technical advice throughout manufacture and test, and will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers to ensure knowledge transfer across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design concept and development of new valve ranges, alongside ongoing development of existing products.
  • Producing calculations and design reports to support valve design, including structural calculations covering shear, torsion, tension/compression, bending, deflection and buckling.
  • Carrying out material selection, valve sizing, and actuator sizing.
  • Producing design files, manufacturing procedures, risk assessments, and installation, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Managing the transfer of design information including drawings, limits, and fits, BOMs and procedures.
  • Liaising with the manufacturing department to provide technical advice throughout manufacture and test.
  • Delivering effective presentations to high-level customers and key stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers to strengthen the team's design capability.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, ideally currently working in a valve design engineering role.
  • In-depth knowledge of valve design, functionality, and operating mechanisms.
  • Knowledge and application of PED Regulations and design standards including ASME (NB), BS, ISO and API.
  • Expert CAD user - Auto CAD essential, Solid Works preferable.
  • Expert knowledge of FEA and CFD.
  • Ability to interpret contract design specifications and other technical requirements.
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience; excellent numeracy and literacy skills required.
