Role Purpose
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision and coordination of mechanical and electrical installation works on site. The role ensures that M&E works are delivered safely, to specification, on programme, and to the required quality standards, while coordinating effectively with other trades and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting local Project Managers to supervise mechanical and electrical installation works, including:
- HVAC systems
- Pipework and plumbing
- Electrical containment, cabling, and terminations
- Plant and equipment installation
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with:
- Approved drawings and specifications (collecting visual evidence to confirm/support)
- Method statements and RAMS
- Relevant standards and regulations (e.g. BS, CIBSE, IET)
- Monitor and control the schedule as per the project’s construction programme
- Monitor progress and report delays, variations, or technical issues
- Maintain daily site records and progress reports
Qualifications & Training
- SSSTS or SMSTS (mandatory)
- CSCS Supervisory Card (M&E relevant)
- Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent)
- First Aid at Work (desirable)
- Relevant permits and certifications (e.g. HV/LV awareness, confined spaces, hot works)
Experience
- Proven experience supervising M&E works on live construction sites
- Strong background in either mechanical or electrical discipline (or both)
- Experience supporting testing, commissioning, and handover phases
The role is released on an initial 6-month contract basis, but does have the potential for extension for an additional 12 months.
