We’re looking for a practical, people-focused HSE Advisor to support our Bolton site—someone who can guide, influence, and continuously improve how we approach safety and environmental standards across the business. This role is less about “policing” and more about partnering with teams on the shop floor, providing advice, coaching, and support to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient ways of working. Alongside HSE responsibilities, you’ll also support the wider engineering function by contributing to process improvements and manufacturing best practice, helping the site run smoothly day‑to‑day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Act as a trusted advisor on all HSE matters across the site
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of ISO systems (9001, 14001, 45001)
  • Assist with internal audits and help prepare teams for external audits
  • Provide practical, on-the-ground guidance to managers and operators
  • Help identify risks and work collaboratively to implement sensible, workable solutions
  • Support environmental initiatives including waste, energy use, and sustainability efforts
  • Assist in reviewing and updating H&S policies to keep them relevant and usable
  • Work with site leadership to monitor and improve HSE performance
  • Promote a positive safety culture through engagement rather than enforcement
  • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and training in a clear and relatable way
  • Provide support around fire safety and emergency procedures

Process & Manufacturing Support

  • Support production teams with clear and practical process documentation
  • Assist engineers with process improvements and day-to-day problem solving
  • Work with R&D and engineering on new product introduction from a process and safety perspective
  • Help ensure key process controls and measurements are understood and followed
  • Be a regular presence on the shop floor—working alongside teams, not just observing

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in an HSE role within a manufacturing environment
  • NEBOSH qualification (or working towards) would be beneficial
  • Good understanding of UK HSE legislation and ISO standards
  • Someone who can influence and advise, not just enforce rules
  • Strong communication skills—comfortable engaging with shop floor and management alike
  • A hands‑on, approachable style with a willingness to get involved
  • Able to build relationships and earn trust across teams
  • Flexible and proactive, with a common‑sense approach to problem solving
  • Experience in chemical or industrial environments would be an advantage
