Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + Package
The Role: You will work within the Estimating team in Birmingham, contributing to a variety of construction projects. This role is suited to an experienced Estimator who is looking to join a forward-thinking, stable business with a strong reputation. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to and help develop the estimating function, making it ideal for someone motivated to drive improvements and add value.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documentation, identifying risks and opportunities, and support bid strategies
- Prepare accurate take-offs, detailed cost estimates, and tender submissions
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and analyse quotations
- Collaborate with construction and commercial teams to ensure alignment on delivery and methodology
- Produce tender handover documentation for successful bids and support pre-construction activities
- Utilise estimating software such as Conquest, Bluebeam/CostX, and Excel for cost planning and reporting
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in an estimating role within the construction industry
- Experience with cost planning and two-stage tender processes
- Strong understanding of construction methods and commercial principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g. Conquest, Bluebeam/CostX)
- Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement routes
Personal Attributes
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Well-organised with strong time-management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
