Our client, a global consultancy offering advice to the built environment, is seeking to appoint a key Environmental Planner to join their London or Birmingham offices.

Overview

The Environmental Planning Team forms part of the Planning, Development and Regeneration business which provides complimentary services to the group’s master‑planning and town‑planning commissions throughout the UK, as well as supporting other parts of the group. Services include Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA); environmental constraints and opportunities planning at site feasibility and master‑planning stages; and high‑level strategic environmental planning advice for complex situations at all stages of the development life‑cycle.

Our dedicated Environmental Planning Team works across the UK on a diverse range of areas, including:

  • Residential
  • Commercial
  • Industrial
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Energy
  • The Arts

The new Senior Environmental Planner role will focus on the delivery of a range of complex and large‑scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Full management and delivery of projects, including quality assurance and sign‑off of deliverables.
  • Client management and project financial management.
  • Business development exposure, marketing and networking.
  • Team management and mentoring.
  • Product development, innovation and operational management.
  • Contribution to business strategy.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Environmental Engineer/Scientist or equivalent; excellent understanding of environmental topics and the UK planning system.
  • Practical experience implementing the relevant EIA Regulations at all stages of the EIA process.
  • Experience coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Experience working with and managing various project stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, including financial monitoring and management of projects.
  • Excellent written skills: authoring EIA Screening reports, EIA Scoping reports, Environmental Statements and other deliverables, and signing‑off/approving written deliverables.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Pro‑active, collaborative team approach, supporting and motivating peers.
  • Innovative thinking to enhance outcomes for clients.
