We're looking for a Field Service Engineer who thrives on problem‑solving, takes pride in quality workmanship, and enjoys the variety of working both on‑site and in‑house. Most importantly, we’re after someone with the right mindset and skill set to hit the ground running.
HQ: Bedford, (Patch determined local to candidate, HQ visits required once a week).
Salary: Total package up to £47,000 plus overtime at time and a half and paid door‑to‑door from home.
ACR is working exclusively with a heavy‑goods engineering firm recognised worldwide as a leader in their specialism. The business has a team of field service engineers who work nationally and report into a Bedford HQ for meetings and training.
Responsibilities- Carrying out planned maintenance and fault‑finding on high‑spec industrial equipment
- Working with PLC‑controlled systems and remote diagnostics
- Performing repairs, remedial works, and supporting R&D tasks
- Collaborating with a nationwide team while managing your own workload
- Travelling across the UK, with occasional nights away and potential training in Germany
- A solid background in electrical and mechanical engineering
- Diagnostic experience desirable
- Ideally experience of working on heavy plant machinery such as excavators, diggers, concrete mixers, tractors etc.
- Exposure to CANbus systems and remote‑control diagnostics is desirable.
- An apprenticeship or equivalent formal qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, etc.)
- Someone self‑motivated, safety‑conscious, and comfortable working independently
- Starting salary of £42,000 with a pay rise to £44,000 after probation (6 months)
- Hourly rate equivalent: £16.15/hr rising to £16.92/hr
- Overtime paid at 1.5x – plus door‑to‑door travel is paid!
