Technique Recruitment Solutions are working on behalf of an engineering manufacturer based near Lowestoft who have an immediate permanent vacancy for an experienced Team Leader to join their team.

Purpose of Role

Assist with managing the day-to-day activities within the electrical and controls team. Ensuring technical co‑ordination with all other internal and external disciplines whilst maintaining and developing processes, procedures and engineering standards. Other activities will include but not be limited to trouble‑shooting, sales and application support and team building while minimizing business risk. Some of this work will involve visiting customer sites both in the UK and worldwide. You will be required to work as part of a team and in some instances as an individual. When required, carry out electrical design duties such as producing drawings and parts lists. Develop, install and commission control software including motion control, robotics, visualization and all necessary interfaces.

Key Responsibilities/Activities

  • Administration (time sheets, absences monitoring, banked hours, holidays, inductions and leaving interviews)
  • Monitor design progress.
  • Review and sign off designs, ensuring they fit for purpose.
  • Allocate and monitor resources.
  • Liaise with mechanical, electrical and control engineers.
  • Receive internal and external audits of the design process.
  • Conceptual design.
  • Support assembly shop.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Attend/lead design reviews.
  • Test and develop new machinery.
  • Problem solve during machinery testing.
  • Brainstorming.
  • Complete engineering design estimates.
  • Monitor budgetary performance.
  • Allocate and agree corrective action for non‑conformances.
  • Monitor design to ensure customer specification compliance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget, including troubleshooting through to customer acceptance and post‑project learning.
  • Provide technical sales support and validate sales proposals when required.
  • Support the application department with solution advice, system configuration, performance criteria, cost reviews, maximizing margin and minimizing risk and applying resources as required.
  • Develop pragmatic and cost‑effective strategies in response to client requirements.
  • Report problems and deficiencies in the design and brief.
  • Maintain files and records throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Suggest solutions to problems based on an understanding of relevant technologies.
  • Visit customers worldwide, as required to resolve problems and test machines/systems.
  • Ensure statutory and company procedures and practices are maintained.
  • Ensure all activities support the business direction of faster, cheaper and smaller machines.
  • Work with and support other departments to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Deal with specifiers and/or suppliers/distributors.
  • Promote a safe working environment ensuring compliance with all current legislation.
  • Other duties may be requested.

Qualifications

Minimum level 3 in electrical engineering or similar and successfully completed an apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
