We are currently working with a well‑established civil engineering consultancy that is seeking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer/Associate Director to join its growing Bath office. The business operates predominantly within the residential development sector, delivering infrastructure solutions for housing schemes across the UK. The Role

The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of residential infrastructure projects from feasibility through to technical approval and construction. The role will also involve client liaison, mentoring junior engineers and supporting the continued growth of the Bath office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of highways, drainage and earthworks for residential developments
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations and technical reports
  • Manage projects through planning, detailed design and construction stages
  • Liaise with local authorities, clients, architects and external consultants
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
  • Assist with client management and business development activities

Requirements

  • Significant experience within a civil engineering consultancy environment
  • Strong residential development experience
  • Excellent knowledge of plot levels, highway design, surface and foul water drainage design
  • Proficient in Flow / MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage, Civil 3D or Site 3D
  • Experience managing projects and leading teams
  • Strong communication and client‑facing skills
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership
