Our client, an established defence engineering firm, requires an experienced Principal FEA Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team in Barrow in Furness. Working on cuttingâedge marine systems, this role offers handsâon experience with highâperformance computing (HPC) systems and advanced CFD tools. Support with relocation costs can be discussed and included in an offer package, subject to HR approval.

Salary: ÂŁ60,000 - ÂŁ65,000 + benefits
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the Stealth Engineering FEA capability.
- Perform detailed FEA simulations to assess structural behaviour and its effect on stealthârelated performance.
- Analyse structureâborne vibration and fluidâborne noise characteristics across components and systems.
- Prepare clear technical reports and present findings to design teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multiâdisciplinary teams to ensure stealth, structural, and safety requirements are fully met.
- Assist in model validation, correlation with physical tests, and refinement of analysis techniques.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
- Experience with FEA software (such as ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, or similar).
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics and finite element principles.
- Ability to interpret results and communicate complex findings in a clear, concise way.
- A methodical approach and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with dynamic, thermal, or coupled analyses.
Eligibility for SC security clearance and having lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years.
