Syntech Recruitment are partnering with a leading high-technology electronics manufacturing services provider in Andover, Hampshire to recruit a dedicated HSE Officer to join their Quality team.
The role offers the opportunity to lead as the HSE Management Representative, managing and developing the company's Business Management System within a modern, mission-critical manufacturing environment.
Working closely with the QHSE Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental culture while driving continuous improvement across the organization.
- HSE Officer Responsibilities
- System Management: Develop, maintain, and improve the Business Management System to meet the strict requirements of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001.
- Compliance & Auditing: Manage, plan, and conduct internal HSE audits, ensuring all non-conformances are reported, tracked, and closed out effectively.
- Risk Mitigation: Assist management in identifying, containing, and managing business risks, deploying robust preventative actions to eliminate recurring issues.
- Client & Market Support: Act as the point of contact for customer compliance queries, including handling conflict mineral statements and regulatory requests.
- Culture & Training: Actively promote and embed Behavioral Safety concepts across the workforce; deliver targeted training to support team development in all HSE matters.
- HSE Committee Leadership: Support the development and management of the internal HSE Committee to ensure active organizational engagement.
- KPI & Metrics Reporting: Identify, track, and report key Occupational Health & Safety (OHAS) and Environmental measures, focusing closely on reducing energy and waste costs.
- Standards Communication: Clear communication of compliance requirements across all tiers of management and staff to ensure deep organizational understanding.
- HSE Officer Requirements
- Education: Formal qualification to Degree level (Minimum Level 4 Higher Certificate / HNC).
- Certifications: NEBOSH General Certificate for Health & Safety Management (or equivalent alternative).
- Auditing Credentials: Formal Lead Auditor training in ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 frameworks.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrable track record working within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Technical Skills: Highly proficient with Microsoft Office tools, data handling, data analysis, and running systematic investigations or risk assessments.
- Soft Skills: Outstanding communication, organizational, and negotiation skills with a methodical, high-integrity approach to problem-solving.
- Right to Work: Must possess full current eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Desirable Skills
- Formal auditor training or familiarity with ISO 50001 energy management protocols.
- NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate.
- Specific, direct background or technical insight into the electronics engineering sector.
