- Location: HPC site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD)
- Salary: £29.34/hr Monday‑Thursday (38 hours); £41.07/hr Friday morning‑12:00 Saturday; £52.81 Midday Saturday to Sunday 12pm (+22.5% shift allowance for nightshift hours)
- Benefits: Up to 10% bonus on all hours worked, generous holiday allowance, contributory pension scheme, sick pay, and nightshift allowance.

Morson Talent currently have excellent opportunities for Welders skilled in TIG and MMA with heavy industry experience to join our client's existing site team at Hinkley Point ‘C’ on a permanent basis.
You’ll become part of the Nuclear New Build MEH Alliance at Hinkley Point ‘C’ in Somerset – the UK’s largest construction infrastructure Project. You will join a team striving for excellence and play a pivotal role in delivering complex piping and cabling systems to the nation’s first‑ever 3rd Generation nuclear power plant.
These roles can be employed on a day‑shift or night‑shift basis, at the preference of the candidate (+22.5% nightshift allowance). Significant overtime (Friday‑Sunday every other week, 11 days on / 3 days off work pattern), paid at enhanced rates will also be available.
These are long‑term opportunities with an expected duration of 6‑7 years on HPC for welders with the required skills, followed by subsequent work on the future Sizewell ‘C’ project.
The Role
Working within the MEH Alliance, individuals collaborate effectively to deliver complex piping and cabling systems. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Perform welding operations to a radiographic standard.
- Conduct equipment inspections.
- Adhere to established welding protocols and safety regulations, including fume control.
- Identify and report potential welding problems for corrective action.
- Identify own welds for quality control.
- Comply with established quality control procedures and documentation standards.
Skills & Qualifications
You are a great fit if you have proven experience in the following:
- TIG Welding for high‑integrity pipe welding.
- Structural MMA Welding for pipe supports and brackets at Hinkley Point C.
Suitable candidates will be required to test to the following ISO 9606 standards:
- SWQ 02 – 2” Nb XXS Carbon Steel Pipe Butt Weld, H‑L045, TIG throughout with an ER 70 S‑6 wire
- SWQ 04 – 2” Nb XXS Stainless Steel Pipe Butt Weld, H‑L045, TIG throughout, ER 70 S‑6 wire and 316L TIG rod
- SWQ 22 – Multi‑Pass Fillet Weld on a 60 × 60 × 6 mm box section to a 200 × 200 × 12 mm plate using the TIG process, 316L TIG wire completed in the PH welding position
- SWQ 19 – Multi‑Pass Fillet Weld on a 60 × 60 × 5 mm box section to a 200 × 200 × 12 mm plate using the TIG process, ER 70 S‑6 TIG wire completed in the PH position
- SWQ 70 – Multi‑Pass Fillet Weld on a 60 × 60 × 5 mm box section to a 200 × 200 × 12 mm plate using the MMA process, 7018 low‑hydrogen electrodes completed in the PH position
Candidates will be required to pass SWQ 02, 04 and 70 to be considered.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ideally possess a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Welding or Fabrication discipline, or a Welding apprenticeship, or an equivalent apprenticeship in a Welding discipline (minimum Level 5 in Scotland if apprenticeship/qualification awarded in Scotland), or an ACE Card in Welding Pipe or Plate.
- At least 5 years experience as a Welder in a relevant industry (e.g. oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, marine, shipbuilding, etc.).
- Must have / be able to obtain a CCNSG Safety Passport (not a condition of being considered / offered a role but must be obtained at least 2 weeks prior to starting).
- Ability to pass BPSS security vetting.
