Position: Assistant Gas Engineer
Salary: £30,000 p/annum
Location: Tiverton/Exeter, United Kingdom
Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week
About the Role
This is a hands‑on, varied position supporting Mains & Services Gas Engineers across a wide range of domestic and commercial projects. Work includes installing pipework, supporting underground vessel installations, and working across new housing developments and caravan parks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with installation of gas pipework to domestic properties
- Working with a grundomat (mole) for trenchless pipe installation
- Digging pits manually (ground conditions permitting) and completing reinstatement
- Supporting underground vessel installations (working alongside excavator teams)
- Testing and commissioning pipework
- Working on new build sites (open trench) and commercial installations
- Support Mains & Services Engineers in daily operations
- Ensure high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
- Deliver excellent customer service when working on‑site
- Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork
- Follow company quality procedures and safe working practices
- Use tools and equipment in line with best practice
- Contribute to operational efficiency and team performance
Skills & Experience Required
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- SHEA Gas Qualifications in Fresh Air Breathing Apparatus
- Abrasive Wheels
- NPORS (or similar) Forward Tipping Dumper (advantageous)
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a physically demanding role
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
