Position: Assistant Gas Engineer

Salary: £30,000 p/annum

Location: Tiverton/Exeter, United Kingdom

Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week

About the Role

This is a hands‑on, varied position supporting Mains & Services Gas Engineers across a wide range of domestic and commercial projects. Work includes installing pipework, supporting underground vessel installations, and working across new housing developments and caravan parks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with installation of gas pipework to domestic properties
  • Working with a grundomat (mole) for trenchless pipe installation
  • Digging pits manually (ground conditions permitting) and completing reinstatement
  • Supporting underground vessel installations (working alongside excavator teams)
  • Testing and commissioning pipework
  • Working on new build sites (open trench) and commercial installations
  • Support Mains & Services Engineers in daily operations
  • Ensure high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Deliver excellent customer service when working on‑site
  • Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork
  • Follow company quality procedures and safe working practices
  • Use tools and equipment in line with best practice
  • Contribute to operational efficiency and team performance

Skills & Experience Required

  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • SHEA Gas Qualifications in Fresh Air Breathing Apparatus
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • NPORS (or similar) Forward Tipping Dumper (advantageous)
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a physically demanding role
  • Good awareness of health & safety practices
