Are you an ambitious Oil & Gas professional looking for an opportunity to build your commercial career with a global market leader? This is a rare opportunity to take responsibility for an established North Sea market, without the pressure of an immediate sales target. You'll be given the time, support and development to understand the customer base, build relationships and identify where the real growth opportunities exist. Perform well and the opportunity gets bigger, with genuine scope to take responsibility for additional international markets as your career develops.

THE CLIENT

Our client is a global market leader providing highly engineered solutions to the upstream Oil & Gas sector. Its products lead the field in terms of quality, reliability and performance across critical upstream applications, with an established customer base encompassing major global operators, service companies and OEMs. This is a successful, supportive business where people are encouraged to develop and given genuine responsibility. You'll have the backing and international reach of an established global organisation while remaining visible enough for your contribution to make a real difference. Investment in training and development is significant, and this appointment is very much about finding someone with the potential to build a long-term career within the business.

THE ROLE

As BDM, you'll take responsibility for developing the company's presence across the UK North Sea. Importantly, there is no traditional sales target in year one. Your initial focus will be on getting close to the market: developing relationships with operators, service companies and OEMs, understanding where the company's solutions are currently being used and identifying the opportunities that exist to grow the business. A key part of the role will be gathering market intelligence, understanding competitor activity and identifying gaps and opportunities across the territory. You'll also deliver technical presentations, support customer applications and prepare quotations, proposals and tenders, ultimately building a clear commercial picture of the North Sea opportunity. As your knowledge and experience develop, so will your commercial responsibility. Longer term, there is genuine scope to expand your remit into additional international territories and build a broader career within the organisation.

THE PERSON

We're looking for someone who already understands the Oil & Gas environment and has the personality and ambition to succeed in a customer-facing commercial role. You may already be working in technical sales or account management, or your experience could have been gained within applications, engineering, field service, projects, operations or another customer-facing technical position. What's important is that you can combine technical credibility with commercial potential. You'll be comfortable engaging with technically knowledgeable customers, naturally inquisitive and good at understanding their needs. You'll be driven, enthusiastic and keen to progress, comfortable working independently and taking accountability, with a good understanding of the North Sea Oil & Gas market.
