Can you lead others? Are you capable of managing critical supplier subcontracts? Can you negotiate contractual frameworks and understand the importance of rigorous contracting? Do you have experience of providing commercial guidance and would love the opportunity to work collaboratively with suppliers? As a Procurement Subcontract Specialist for the Project Procurement team (P-PROC), you will partner our suppliers and enable MBDA to provide world-leading defence capabilities for our Home Nations and their Allies.

Salary: Circa £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification, plus travel between sites

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance after offer.

The opportunity: This role is less about buying parts and components and more about understanding stakeholder requirements and how suppliers can provide expertise, capabilities and technology. As a leading Procurement Subcontract Specialist for the P-PROC team, you will partner our suppliers and enable MBDA to provide world-leading defence capabilities for our Home Nations and their Allies. Managing others and leading delivery of a portfolio of Research and Development projects, this role requires attention to detail and the ability to negotiate supplier contracts and craft key contractual terms with critical suppliers, alongside delivery of procurement support to technical teams within MBDA. You will line-manage and lead others to deliver this support across various projects and commercial frameworks. You will deliver on, and lead others through, subcontracts and obligations across the entire life-cycle of missiles and missile systems, project manage the on-time, on-cost, on-quality delivery of high-value and sophisticated sub-systems, provide commercial guidance to internal customers and manage risk and opportunity to safeguard the interests of MBDA.

  • Experience supporting new business tendering and executing procurement competitive tendering
  • Ability to resolve opposing views, find resolutions and negotiate mutually agreeable positions
  • Keen to provide high standards of service, support and co-operation to senior internal and external customers
  • Continually improve opportunities, analyse situations and present possibilities, whilst balancing risk
  • An appetite for procedural rigour and satisfaction from tracking the details
  • Required travel to suppliers in the UK, Europe and potentially internationally
