Overview
As part of our continued support to our client in the space industry we are looking for an Electrical Technician with experience in Manufacturing Assembly, Integration & Test (MAIT). The role will require candidates to support the preparation of electrical components that meet high quality standards in line with production procedures and processes.
Responsibilities
- Read and work to shop floor documents such as routings, drawings, work instructions and BOMs.
- Work to and comply with ESA standards, processes and H&S requirements.
- Complete required process standard as dictated by the area skills matrix.
- Complete paperwork relating to operations undertaken, including traceability.
- Perform online harness routing, crimping and connector population in line with space industry standards.
- Pre‑installation electrical checks.
- Inspect crimps and harness routing.
- Mechanical and electrical integration of equipment/hardware.
- Work on space hardware.
- Work within a flexible motivated team‑working to tight schedules and meeting critical deadlines.
- Play an active part in continuous improvement plans.
- May be asked to temporarily follow equipment to other UK sites and may be given opportunities to work abroad.
Qualifications
- ESA qualified electrical technician preferred; other electrical qualifications considered.
- Time served apprentice desirable but not essential.
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of crimping, splicing, wiring, harness manufacture, harness forming, thermal installation to ESA electrical standards.
- Familiarity with and ability to follow shop documentation such as BOMs, drawings, work instructions, processes and procedures.
- Pre‑installation electrical checks.
- Inspection capabilities to check crimps and harness routing.
- Good electrical knowledge and technical understanding.
Desired Skills
- Detail fit (rivets/inserts).
- Panel edge taping and trimming.
- MLI installation (thermal blanket).
- Bracket and Tybase bonding.
- Bracket installations.
- Electrical grounding.
Experience
- At least 18 months electrical experience post any training period.
- Experience working in a high‑quality production environment relating to electrical assembly.
- Experience working in a clean‑room environment including FOD/ESD practices.
What Do I Need Before I Apply
- UK sole national.
- SC cleared.
- Ability/willingness to work within the Stevenage area full time.
- Willingness to support shift working (06:00‑14:00 & 14:00‑22:00) with a shift premium payable (x1.2).
