We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Senior Crude Oil Trader to join our London trading team. You will be responsible for originating and executing physical and/or paper crude oil trades, managing commercial relationships, and driving P&L growth. This role requires deep market expertise, a robust network of counterparties, and strong risk management capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding our global crude oil book.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and manage physical and/or paper crude oil trades (Brent, WTI, Dubai, etc.)
- Source cargoes and structure sales across key global markets (Europe, Middle East, Americas, Asia)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with producers, refiners, NOCs, IOCs, traders, and shipping counterparts
- Identify arbitrage opportunities and develop profitable trading strategies
- Monitor global market trends, fundamentals, geopolitics, and price movements
- Coordinate closely with operations, shipping, risk, legal, and finance teams
- Ensure compliance with risk policies and trading limits
- Contribute to strategic development of the crude trading desk and new market entries
Profile:
- 7-10+ years of proven experience in physical or derivatives crude oil trading
- Strong commercial network across the crude oil supply chain
- Deep knowledge of global flows, arbitrage, freight, pricing mechanisms, and logistics
- Strong analytical, commercial, and deal structuring skills
- Experience with hedging and derivatives (ICE, CME, swaps, options)
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to manage a trading book independently
- High level of integrity, risk awareness, and compliance understanding
