Solar Careers UK is a division of Solar Energy UK, the trade association representing solar businesses across the country. We assist with the recruitment of full-time, permanent installation teams from across the United Kingdom.
This role presents an opportunity to join a leading renewable energy developer and provider of services into the renewable energy industry. Service technicians are responsible for day-to-day on-site activities for assigned sites, working with the regional support team and other stakeholders to deliver O&M services safely and effectively to achieve performance, availability, and safety objectives for solar PV and battery storage plants.
Responsibilities
- Planned preventive maintenance of electrical, auxiliary, communications, mechanical, structural, grounds and security systems.
- Reactive maintenance interventions, fault diagnosis and repair of electrical, auxiliary, communications, mechanical, structural, grounds and security systems.
- Inspections, information gathering and records keeping using safety culture templates and other resources.
- Completion and updating of events log management system tickets, weekly timesheets, and maintaining site and vehicle stock inventory.
- Work in accordance with site access and security control procedures and policies.
- Adhere to safety policies, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and relevant HV/LV safety rules.
- Support the development of the Quality Management System and supervise site inductions of subcontractors, suppliers, graziers and visitors.
- Participate in self-led, site-based and classroom-based training; occasional travel, including overseas.
- Travel to other regional sites as required; overnight stays may be necessary.
Requirements
- Technical experience as a qualified electrician (BS7671: latest version) or electrical engineer.
- Inspection and maintenance experience and qualifications (C&G 2391 or 2394/5) or equivalent, or working towards.
- Solar PV installation and maintenance experience (including systems over 50kWp and G59/3, G99) with qualifications (C&G 2372 or C&G 2399).
- Experience and training with central PV inverters (e.g., SMA, Power Electronics, Gamesa, Ingeteam, Sungrow) is highly desirable.
- Experience and training with HV switchgear and systems is highly desirable.
- Health and Safety awareness (e.g., ECS and/or SSSTS) including a valid first aid ticket.
- Self-driven with experience of working remotely without close supervision.
- Attention to detail and a can-do attitude with good time management and prioritization.
- Technical knowledge to problem-solve and communicate solutions verbally and in writing.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to resolving faults and supporting other areas as needed.
- Composure under pressure; remains calm and constructive in challenging situations.
- Enthusiasm for continuous development and learning.
- Clean driving license.
