ALTEN UK is looking for an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer to join a high-impact programme in the nuclear energy project in Bristol. You'll support the design and operation of control room systems and process displays, contributing to the engineering and integration of logic systems across major infrastructure. Your main responsibilities will be:
- Interpret and support the development of logic diagrams, block diagrams, and process displays for control systems.
- Assist in designing and reviewing I&C system architecture, ensuring integration within nuclear-grade environments.
- Work within control rooms and operator environments, supporting HMI (Human Machine Interface) logic and display validation.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure functional logic supports system performance and safety needs.
- Apply understanding of PLC systems and logic flow without direct involvement in PLC coding or development.
- Contribute to documentation, configuration management, and design tracking as per regulated project standards.

Qualifications, experience, skills and qualifications required:
- Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Junior Engineer with up to 3-12 years of experience in I&C, electrical, or systems engineering.
- Knowledge of logic systems, HMI design, and control room engineering environments.
- Strong ability to interpret technical diagrams and process flowcharts.
- Comfortable working in highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, or energy infrastructure.
- Exposure to PLC environments (e.g. Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell) - understanding logic but no PLC coding required.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with control system engineering documentation, process control environments, or HMI-focused projects.
- Experience or academic exposure to industrial logic systems and functional architecture is preferred.
