Portwest, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE, is currently seeking applications for the position of Indirect Procurement Coordinator, a hybrid position based in Thurnscoe, UK. Portwest is one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world, currently employing over 5,300 staff worldwide, with customer service staff in over 130 countries and 8 global warehouses in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, UAE, USA and Australia. We design, manufacture and distribute market-leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Indirect Procurement Lead, this role is ideal for a graduate or someone with introductory experience looking to develop a career in procurement. The role supports logistics-related indirect procurement activities, including fleet support, sea freight data collection, pricing reviews, supplier reporting, and procurement administration.
- Fleet Support
- Support procurement and administrative activities relating to fleet and logistics spend.
- Maintain records for vehicles, suppliers, contracts, and compliance documentation.
- Responsible for supplier communication and coordination, building strong relationships throughout.
- Negotiate new and current contracts.
- Work with internal stakeholders across the business.
- Collect and maintain sea freight data alongside the Indirect Procurement Lead, including volumes, routes, costs, and suppliers.
- Obtain ad hoc quotes from vendors.
- Check pricing against agreed supplier rates and procurement guidelines.
- Support accounts with low value invoice queries.
- Support tracking of supplier performance against KPIs.
- Contribute to departmental KPI reporting.
- Assist in identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
- Provide administrative support across logistics procurement activities.
- Assist with tender preparation and evaluation activities.
- Work with internal stakeholders to review low value quotes.
- Support internal teams by escalating or investigating anomalies where required.
- Internal auditing to contribute towards corporate governance.
Requirements
- Graduate level or with 2-3 years relevant experience is essential.
- Strong attention to detail, analytically minded and ability to work with data.
- Good Excel skills and confidence learning new systems.
- Organised, proactive, and keen to develop commercial skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
