Job Description
We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our collaborative Omics market team. As a Mechanical Engineering Consultant in our Omics team, you'll contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge tools for genomic and proteomic analysis - from novel assays and consumables to integrated benchtop instruments - alongside a multidisciplinary team of passionate biologists, physicists and engineers. You'll also have the opportunity to work on projects across all of Life Science. You'll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle: shaping project proposals, leading and contributing to technical workstreams, and engaging directly with clients. Each project offers the chance to dive into new scientific domains, hone your project leadership and client relationship skills, and help bring transformative technologies to market. Our work addresses real-world challenges in precision medicine, synthetic biology, advanced therapy manufacturing, agricultural biotechnology, and more – projects that are scientifically ambitious, commercially valuable, and socially impactful.
Qualifications
We're seeking a commercially aware Mechanical Engineer who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. You will bring:
- Demonstrated mechanical engineering capability, through a strong academic background and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Electromechanical system design and integration
- Fluidics and microfluidics
- Thermal management
- Precision positioning and tolerance analysis
- Specification and design of single-use components
You are:
- Market aware, with an interest in genomics and proteomics and the ability to connect ideas to business outcomes, customer needs, and value creation
- Strategic - you see the bigger picture, and anticipate challenges and opportunities
