The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Mobile Lead Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for a technically strong, proactive engineer who can lead maintenance activities across both critical environments (including data centres) and general office facilities. You will play a key role in ensuring operational reliability, statutory compliance and a safe working environment, while providing leadership and technical guidance to the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Operations
- Manage your own workload and allocate tasks to engineering team members.
- Oversee maintenance delivery costs (self-perform and specialist contractors).
- Ensure critical services (e.g., computer rooms, networks, revenue-earning systems) meet SLA and operational requirements.
- Provide emergency response, standby and call-out support as needed.
- Prepare technical reports and lead on operational reviews.
- Technical & Compliance
- Operate change control processes for business-critical environments.
- Maintain and update dilapidation plans relating to critical systems.
- Plan and oversee statutory compliance testing and produce audit reports.
- Ensure all PPM and Critical PPM activities are completed to schedule.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and maintenance records.
- Monitor environmental and utility performance, analysing critical equipment loading and conditions.
- Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Work in line with CBRE H&S procedures, using permit-to-work systems where applicable.
- Liaise with CBRE EHS specialists to ensure audit compliance.
- Identify and escalate urgent issues, risks or performance concerns.
- Support cost-effective procurement strategies for engineering services.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Recognised electrical qualification (Apprenticeship, HND, City & Guilds).
- 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations.
- Strong experience managing engineering services in commercial environments.
- Excellent supplier and contractor management skills.
- Strong communication skills across all levels.
- Competent in MS Office and building documentation systems.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and utilities monitoring.
- IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety training.
Desirable
- Experience in data centre or critical environment operations.
- Understanding of water hygiene regulations (L8).
- BMS, HVAC and critical cooling system experience.
- Operational experience with UPS and standby power systems.
- Experience managing Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality Systems.
