Due to continued growth, EES Group is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end design and delivery of renewable solar PV systems, ensuring all works are executed in accordance with company procedures, industry regulations, and client requirements. This role demands a proactive approach to site surveys, technical documentation, and collaborative project delivery, supporting our commitment to operational excellence and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site surveys to assess suitability for solar PV installations, capturing all relevant data and images for technical review.
- Prepare and issue detailed design documentation, including bills of quantities, scope of works, cable calculations, and technical drawings, in line with the EES Design Process and SOPs.
- Ensure all design outputs are reviewed through established Q-gate processes, with client approval and validation at each stage.
- Collaborate with Install Managers and Project Planners to facilitate constructability reviews, clarify design intent, and resolve any outstanding actions prior to project handover.
Technical Excellence
- Identify and address any defects or issues that may impact the proposed PV system, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and best practice standards.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive technical reports, leveraging strong IT skills to present findings clearly and professionally.
- Develop and validate cable plans, equipment layouts, and single line diagrams (SLDs) to ensure accuracy and buildability.
Project Delivery & Collaboration
- Coordinate survey assignments and design activities with the wider technical team, prioritising tasks to meet project milestones and client expectations.
- Maintain punctuality and self-motivation in planning and executing survey schedules, utilising company-supplied vehicles for site visits.
- Engage in regular design handover meetings, supporting the Install Manager in developing discipline-specific schedules of works and ensuring all project requirements are met.
Demonstrable expertise in electrical systems, installations, and relevant UK regulations. Proven experience in solar PV design, defect identification, and technical reporting. Strong organisational skills. Proficiency in IT and design software (Microsoft, Trimble Por Design, SolarEdge Designer).
Qualifications
- AM2, 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3, Level 3 Testing & Inspection (2394/2395 or 2391).
- Level 4 Design & Verification (2396) and Solar qualification (advantageous).
