Job Description Summary
At Dowty (a GE Aerospace company) we are hiring for a Material Controller to join our onsite Dowty team in Brockworth, Glos, for an 18mth fixed term contract. The objective of the Material Controller is to maintain uninterrupted flow of work through our shop to meet the production plan and customer on time delivery. You will be required to facilitate resolution to any material issues preventing the plan being met and problem solve with different departments (Operation / Materials / Customer Operations). This is carried out within a compliant environment while maintaining the integrity of the Business System.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Attend daily Materials Fulfilment meeting to review material position, kitting priority & raise any concerns that require escalation.
- Creation of Work Orders for sub-components of assets received into the facility.
- Work closely with Production Controllers to understand kitting priorities in line with standard work in progress (SWIP).
- Marshalling of material between cells, and transfer of material between Original Equipment and Repair and Overhaul organizations.
- Material kitting & presentation to the shop floor in line with production plan.
- Checking for any material shortages before booking assets to stock.
- Maintaining accuracy and validation of stock in our ERP system and other manual trackers and maintain traceability records for manufactured parts.
- Effectively control/maintain/implement Kanban/pull systems.
- Application of problem-solving skills & can work with cross function teams.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge and experience of Oracle ERP or another ERP system.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Problem solving skills.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Prior experience in material control preferable.
