We're expanding our Electricity Networks team and are looking for practical, safety-focused electricians who want to build a long-term career within the electricity distribution industry. Whether you already have experience in distribution networks or you're a qualified electrician looking to develop new skills, we'll provide the specialist training and support you need to succeed.
As a Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and operating Energy Assets' electricity distribution network. Your work will include:
- Inspecting network assets
- Responding to faults
- Supporting maintenance activities
- Helping ensure our customers receive a safe and reliable electricity supply
Most inspection and surveying activities are completed independently. For planned live works, you'll operate as part of a two-person team, typically alongside an experienced Network Engineer or Improver, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Full training will be provided, including specialist jointing training where required.
What you'll be doing:
- Inspecting LV electricity distribution assets, substations and associated equipment
- Carrying out routine maintenance and condition assessments
- Identifying network defects and arranging remedial works
- Supporting fault response and network restoration activities
- Undertaking LV switching operations (following training and authorisation)
- Installing network monitoring equipment
- Supporting commissioning and energisation of new network assets
- Producing accurate inspection reports and technical records
- Working safely in accordance with Electricity at Work Regulations and company procedures
- Participating in an on-call rota following training
We're interested in hearing from candidates who have:
- Essential:
- Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Desirable:
- Experience working within electricity distribution or utilities
- Experience with LV switching or network operations
- Authorised Person status
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
