What it’s like to be a Communications Engineer
You will receive your own company van and, once fully trained, you’ll work independently, travelling from home to scheduled jobs. Your work will mostly be done alone, but there may be occasions that require a two‑person team. You will install or troubleshoot communications devices on automated gas or electricity meters.
Responsibilities
- Travel to jobs in your own van, using the company‑provided mobile for logistics coordination.
- Install and repair communications equipment on automated meters.
- Manage personal stock – re‑stocking and returning used items.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and ensure punctuality for planned jobs.
- Adhere to health and safety standards, reporting unsafe situations.
- Provide customer service, representing the Energy Assets brand.
- Co‑ordinate with team members across the organisation.
Qualifications
- No prior experience required; full training will be provided.
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to drive a van.
- Comfortable using a mobile phone for daily logistics.
- Basic DIY skills; able to fix or build items.
- Good communication skills for brief interactions with customers.
- Willingness to undergo a basic DBS check and random drug & alcohol tests.
