What Is the Apprenticeship

This Government-approved Level 2 Nuclear Working Wales Apprenticeship gives you a solid foundation in the nuclear industry with a focus on radiation protection and contamination control. The programme includes:

  • One day a week academic study at Coleg Menai.
  • Three days per week of practical, on-the-job training at the Wylfa nuclear site.
  • Mentoring from experienced Health Physics professionals.
  • Training in real-world nuclear environments where safety is paramount.

Entry Requirements & What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for motivated individuals with a passion for science and safety. You must:

  • Be 18 or older by 3rd August 2026.
  • Have 5 GCSEs (grades 9–3 / A–D) including Maths and Science.

We’re also looking for:

  • Enthusiasm for science and nuclear safety.
  • A meticulous and detail-focused mindset.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A willingness to learn in a technical environment.
