An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Lead to join a leading engineering contractor delivering complex power, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. This is a senior leadership position offering the chance to influence business performance, drive commercial strategy, and support the continued growth of a rapidly expanding Power & Renewables division.

The Role

As Commercial Lead, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of a diverse portfolio of power and renewable energy projects, ensuring effective contract management, risk mitigation, cost control, and commercial governance from tender stage through to project completion. Working closely with senior leadership, operations, engineering, and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in protecting commercial interests, strengthening client relationships, and supporting long-term business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial activities across a portfolio of power and renewable energy projects.
  • Drive revenue, margin, cashflow, and overall business performance.
  • Provide commercial input into tendering, bid strategy, project selection, and contract negotiations.
  • Manage contractual obligations, commercial risk, and change control processes.
  • Oversee project cost control, forecasting, reporting, and final account agreements.
  • Audit live projects to ensure commercial compliance and performance.
  • Support the development of key client relationships and framework agreements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop commercial and quantity surveying teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes and reporting.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a senior commercial leadership role within engineering, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or construction.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, commercial strategy, risk management, and project delivery.
  • Experience working on power, energy, utilities, transmission & distribution, renewable energy, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially focused with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
