Energis is currently working with a highly respected building services company that is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished engineer with a strong residential background to take on a leadership role within a collaborative and forward-thinking business. Our client delivers comprehensive Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) engineering solutions. With a focus on continuous learning, cutting-edge technology and clear communication, their team is recognised for designing innovative, sustainable building services that improve the performance, efficiency and functionality of buildings.

As the business continues to expand, they are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer who can lead the technical delivery of residential projects while mentoring engineers, building client relationships and helping shape the future growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the mechanical design and delivery of residential and mixed-use developments.
  • Manage projects through all RIBA work stages from feasibility to completion.
  • Develop energy-efficient and sustainable engineering solutions that meet current Building Regulations and client requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Attend design team meetings and provide technical leadership throughout project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Carry out design reviews and ensure quality assurance procedures are maintained.
  • Project planning, resource management and fee proposals.
Essential Criteria:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering plus 7-8 years relevant industry experience.
  • A proven track record delivering large scale residential developments, ideally in London.
  • Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
  • Experience leading project teams and managing client relationships.
  • A collaborative leadership style with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to client meetings x 1 /2 month.
  • Commercially aware with sound project management skills.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions and excellent client service.
  • Chartered status.
