Our client is a specialist building services contractor currently on the market for a Mechanical Estimator. The successful Estimator will undertake the preparation of estimates, variations, quantified schedules of rates and bills of quantities, with the purpose of submitting competitive tender bids, following them up and securing work for the company.
Responsibilities:
- Log all tender enquiries and open electronic and paper tender files.
- Review and print all appropriate documentation (drawings, specifications, prelims, client enquiries, TQ’s, forms of contract, bid submission documentation).
- Quantification of labour, materials, and plant, based on take-offs from drawings, detailed review of specifications and other tender documentation.
- Prepare and send bid packages for suppliers to price including strict dates for return; follow up to ensure tender prices are received by agreed deadlines.
- Input all information on the estimation software throughout the process.
- Liaise with design and contract management team to determine methodologies for contract completion incorporating value engineering and appropriate new technologies.
- Determine a programme and timetable for completion of tender in line with company procedures and deadlines.
- Presentation of Estimate to senior management at tender finalisation.
- Manage post tender queries & associated tasks.
- Develop professional relationships with main contractors, consulting engineers, quantity surveyors and client bodies.
Criteria:
- Previous experience as a mechanical estimator, with a high level of commercial and contractual awareness.
- A good level of competency of Microsoft, particularly Excel.
- Attention to Detail / Accuracy.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
Salary on offer is in the region of £55k depending upon experience.
