We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with CAM programming expertise to support the transition from design through to production within a high-precision manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing machining strategies, designing tooling and fixtures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. The role will involve collaborating closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and external suppliers to ensure efficient, cost-effective manufacturing solutions are delivered to customer specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and simulate offline CNC programs for high-precision components using CAM software.
- Program 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machinery.
- Select efficient tooling packages and cutting strategies for each component.
- Work closely with tooling manufacturers to introduce the latest tooling technologies and machining methods.
- Create setup sheets, process booklets, tool assembly instructions, and detailed manufacturing documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Production and Quality departments to improve manufacturing methods and reduce machining time and labour costs.
- Troubleshoot machining and process issues to improve efficiency, quality, and reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, tooling optimisation, and process capability.
- Support Sales and Marketing teams by contributing manufacturing concepts, technical input, and quotation support for new business opportunities.
- Assist with cost estimation and manufacturability reviews for potential projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure customer requirements are achieved efficiently and economically.
Essential Criteria:
- HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent third-level qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM-related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Programming, or CAM Programming roles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience creating process documentation.
Desirable
- Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, or medical device manufacturing.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Salary is dependant upon experience and in the region of £45-50k.
