Energis is working with a busy construction company in South Down who has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Technician to join their team.
The Accounts Technician will support the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with the preparation of management accounts and statutory returns. The role ensures that all financial information is recorded in compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Process daily accounting transactions including purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and customer accounts.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments.
- Support payroll processing and post relevant journals.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, PAYE, and other statutory filings.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Handle internal and external financial queries promptly and professionally.
- Liaise with auditors, suppliers, and other stakeholders as required.
- Accounting technician qualification (e.g. AAT, ATI, or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Strong IT and data analysis skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Discretion and understanding of confidentiality in handling financial data.
- Progression towards a professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
Salary is dependant upon experience and in the region of £28,000 – £35,000.
