About The Role

This is a new role joining our high-performing power station team in Dublin 11. The Rotating Plant Engineer will report to our Maintenance Outage Manager and will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Gas and Steam Turbine rotating equipment at Huntstown Power Station. The Rotating Plant Engineer will also work closely with the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Siemens and Mitsubishi. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, oversee maintenance strategies, support project execution and drive continuous improvement to maximise performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance: Provide Health, Safety and Environmental leadership, promoting a professional safety culture within the power station team. Ensure all rotating plant work is carried out in line with company safety policies, permit-to-work systems and any technical OEM requirements. Support continuous improvement activities in Asset Management in line with ISO 55001 standards.
  • Maintenance & Reliability: Responsible for the effective preventative and predictive maintenance of the Huntstown Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines, in collaboration with the Operations and Maintenance teams. Ensure that the OEM Maintenance and Planning activities are carried out as per the relevant Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA). Manage safety and technical improvements proposed by the relevant OEM, including developing business cases and management of implementation/installation, as required. Management of Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path Parts (HGPP) in collaboration with the relevant OEM. Forecasting of obsolescence of assets; and management of suitable upgrade paths. Support root-cause analysis of failures and make recommendations for corrective actions. Manage, update and roll out technical asset documentation, maintenance records & reports, OEM technical bulletins etc.
  • Projects: Provide engineering input and expertise into plant projects and upgrades. Contribute flexibly to outage planning and execution, including expanded responsibilities during outages. Oversee contractor activities to ensure the work meets technical and safety standards. Budget, plan and procure all services, materials and equipment required to enable the above to be achieved. Preparation and supervision of outage activities for Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines.

About You

Key Criteria – What You’ll Need:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or a time-served apprenticeship with equivalent experience in a power generation industry.
  • Proven experience working with and managing large Gas and/or Steam Turbines – a power generation environment is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to collaborate across teams.

Desirable Criteria – These help decide between those who meet all the above key criteria:

  • Knowledge of engineering concepts such as risk management, loss elimination, and lifecycle asset management.
  • Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) / Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to reduce downtime.
