Location: Newforge Lane, Belfast. The entrance to Newforge Lane lies off the Malone Road and is well-served by bus Metro Service 8.

Contract: Permanent, Full Time. Working Hours: 37 hours - Monday to Friday. Hybrid Working: 3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home.

About the Role: You will join a collaborative Group Tax team responsible for managing tax compliance, reporting, and planning across a diverse and evolving energy business. The team works closely with finance and senior stakeholders to ensure robust tax processes, strong governance, and timely delivery of all obligations. As a Tax Assistant, you will play a key supporting role, gaining exposure to a wide range of tax areas while developing both your technical and commercial understanding. We actively support learning and development, including providing opportunities to work towards a relevant professional qualification where appropriate.

Responsibilities: Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like:

  • Assist the tax team with tax compliance for Corporation Tax, VAT, employee related taxes.
  • Tax accounting and journals.
  • Tax forecasting for payments and planning.
  • Other tax compliance including energy taxes, BEPS.
  • Preparation of documents and presentations for senior management oversight and sign-off.

A keen interest in the energy industry and finance. Possess a relevant professional qualification or be supported to work towards one if desired.

About you: Key Criteria What You'll Need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline or relevant professional qualification (part qualified considered).
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of key financial concepts, processes, and controls e.g. financial statements, reconciliations, or experience supporting month-end processes or tax / VAT compliance, ideally gained through academic study, placements or relevant finance experience.
  • Strong attention to numerical detail and analytical acumen.

Desirable Criteria - These help decide between those who meet all the above key criteria:

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of accounting / tax software.
  • Proven organisation and time management skills.
  • Desire to complete professional accounting or tax qualifications (if not already obtained).
