Working Hours: 37 hours - Monday to Friday

About the Role

Our Policy and Regulation Team is responsible for representing and promoting the interests of Energia Group with policy makers, regulators, government bodies, system operators and trade associations, across its Renewables, Flexible Generation and Customer Solutions businesses. This exciting new opportunity will offer the successful candidate a chance to start, or further develop, their career in the energy industry, build their knowledge of energy markets, regulation and policy, and advocate for the changes and improvements that will help shape the energy markets of the future. The ideal candidate is someone who is commercially focused, well-organised, proactive, curious, is a self-starter with a high attention to detail, and is an excellent communicator. You will be part of a high performing, professional team that is always looking to find opportunities to support the Group's strategy of profitably growing, diversifying and trading its renewable and flexible generation portfolio whilst providing exemplary customer service through technological advances and assisting our customers' aspiration to decarbonise.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a high standard of understanding of the Energia business, its strategic goals and its operating environment and apply this to all aspects of the role.
  • Horizon scan and monitor market, regulatory and policy developments across the island of Ireland, GB and the EU that affect the interests of the business units.
  • Provide timely and clear notification of these developments to the business with commercially-focused and insightful updates.
  • Review consultations, proposed market modifications, policy reforms and legislative change identify any possible impacts for Energia and draft clear, concise and robust responses and/or presentations.
  • Proactively build strong internal relationships and provide advice and guidance to colleagues on regulatory and policy matters.
  • Effectively represent and advocate for Energia on external trade associations, industry forums and workshops, actively representing the interests of the organisation.
  • Assist in the regular tasks and supporting the team of Energy Policy Analysts, contributing ideas and innovations to the efficient operation of the team, leveraging technology to increase our impact.

About you

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of three years experience ideally in a policy, economics, legal or advocacy role, supported by a relevant third-level degree or masters requiring demonstrable skills in constructing cogent logical arguments.
  • Excellent time-management and organisational abilities, with the flexibility and resilience to handle shifting priorities to consistently meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative and independent working style, demonstrating emotional intelligence, creativity, and a proactive approach to ideation, innovation and digital readiness, including using technology to maximise team impact.
  • A strong customer- and stakeholder-focused mindset, with proven relationship-building skills, outstanding communication abilities, and a capability to influence decisions in group settings.
  • Advanced critical-thinking and problem-solving capabilities, paired with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.

  • Knowledge of electricity markets.
  • An understanding of the principles of economic regulation.
  • Experience of drafting responses to government or regulatory consultations.
