Energia, part of Energia Group, have an opportunity for a Cross Commodity Trader based in Belfast. The Cross Commodity Trader reports to the Long Term Trading Operations Manager with Energia. The responsibilities of the Front Office team include trade analysis and execution, portfolio optimisation and the daily trading operations required to participate in the Irish energy markets.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing hedge position, requirements and trading to ensure policies are met.
- Conducting analysis to identify trading opportunities and facilitate optimal trading outcomes.
- Managing relationships with customers, consultants and counterparties to ensure optimal trading outcomes.
- Using market knowledge and data to effectively contribute to strategic trading decisions.
- Development of trading systems to improve efficiency of daily operations.
- Contribute to regular market analysis reporting for a range of stakeholders.
- Maintain and develop existing and new Trading policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree with strong numerical / analytical / financial focus and at least 3 yearsβ experience in an energy trading environment.
- Excellent numeric and analytical ability, capable of presenting findings and clear recommendations to senior management.
- Proficient in MS Office, trading and risk management systems.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage high-value trades daily based on a deep understanding of commodity fundamentals (supply / demand, seasonality, geopolitics).
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively within a team.
- Advanced Excel or Power BI skills.
- Demonstrable experience of data modelling, managing and analysing large data sets to find trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Extensive knowledge of the Integrated Single Electricity Market, Irish Gas Market, GB Gas Market and European Carbon Markets.
