Location: Newforge Lane, Belfast. The entrance to Newforge Lane lies off the Malone Road and is well-served by bus Metro Service 8.

Contract: Permanent - Full Time

Working Hours: 37 hours - Monday to Friday

Hybrid Working: We currently operate a hybrid working policy with a mix of working from the office and home.

Salary: Starting salary £28,000 with opportunities to progress to £30,500, plus up to a 10% annual bonus. Additional opportunities to progress to £33,000, following development to a Senior Credit Controller.

About the Role: Reporting to the Debt Manager, the main objective of the Credit Controller role is to reduce arrears in line with target, improving our company's cash flow while at the same time ensuring all market Codes of Practice, Data Protection and in-house department procedures are followed. The role will involve incoming and outbound telephone calls, investigative work to locate debtors, working with third party agencies and reporting information when required to the Regulatory Department. Energia are seeking to recruit someone with experience in a customer specialist role.

Responsibilities: Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like:

  • Making outbound calls to customers in line with company procedure.
  • Taking inbound calls and dealing with customer queries promptly and efficiently.
  • Managing a debt list portfolio.
  • Negotiating payment agreements with customers.
  • Monitoring and working on system To Dos as required and in line with targets.
  • Creating and registering new accounts.
  • Dealing with internal and external third-party stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all debt management activities adhere to Regulatory Codes of Practice, Data Protection and in-house procedures.
  • Updating customer contacts on the in-house billing system.
  • Any other adhoc duties as deemed appropriate by the Debt Manager.

About you: Key Criteria What You'll Need:

  • 2 years+ experience working in Credit Control or a similar environment dealing with a high volume of customers and finding the best ways to recover payment for bills with effective negotiation.
  • Previous experience of working in a fast paced / target driven environment.
  • Excellent telephone manners with experience of working daily on inbound & outbound calls.
  • Demonstrable strong communication skills and a well organised approach.
  • Experience of working towards KPIs.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office to include - Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Desirable Criteria - These help decide between those who meet all the above key criteria:

  • 3 GCSEs (to include Maths & English A* - C grade or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable understanding of the gas and electricity industry.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
