Location: Newforge Lane, Belfast. The entrance to Newforge Lane lies off the Malone Road and is well-served by bus Metro Service 8.

Contract: Fixed Term, Full Time 12 months. Working Hours: 37 hours - Monday to Friday. Hybrid Working: We currently operate a hybrid working policy with a mix of working from the office and home.

About the Role: The Assistant Accountant position sits within the Energia Customer Solutions Business unit and reports to a Senior Accountant within the Gross Margin Team (within the Energia Finance Team). The ideal candidate will have strong basic accounts skills, including:

  • Completion of a wide range of P&L and BS reconciliations, including variance analysis.
  • Preparation of bi-monthly VAT returns and RCT notifications.
  • Assistance in preparation and reconciliation of regulatory returns.
  • Extraction and analysis of data from our billing system.
  • Cash flow analysis & forecasting.
  • Assisting in internal & external audits.
  • Ad-hoc analysis as required.

About you: Key Criteria - What You’ll Need:

  • Previous experience working in a finance related discipline.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Demonstrable experience in the proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Criteria - These help decide between those who meet all the above key criteria:

  • Accounting Technician qualification and/or partial professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Experience using SAP and Workday.
