We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our clients Technical Services team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects. The role involves managing design consultants, coordinating civil engineering design activities, and acting as technical lead for permanent works where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage design consultants and ensure deliverables are produced in line with programme and client requirements.
- Act as technical lead for permanent works civil design in the absence of a Design Manager.
- Manage technical queries, RFIs, design comments, and actions arising from design meetings and workshops.
- Review designers’ monthly reports and prepare design progress updates.
- Review design outputs (drawings, calculations, models) to ensure compliance with scope, standards, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate design interfaces with construction teams and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with contractual design management processes and CDM requirements.
- Manage document control and issue of drawings to the project team.
- Coordinate BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works with the BIM/CAD Operator.
- Act as design lead for temporary works packages, supporting the Lead Temporary Works Coordinator.
About You
- Proven experience in civil engineering design and construction.
- Strong understanding of construction methods and design management processes.
- Good knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities.
- Experience in digital engineering and BIM.
- Heavy civil engineering and tunnelling experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
