This role involves delivering top-tier structural engineering solutions in the Built Environment, supporting clients with their duties under the Building Safety Act 2022.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Structural Engineer, Forensic Engineering within the Professional Services Team, you will:
- Work with a team of fire safety and structural engineering specialists
- Conduct forensic investigations of existing buildings
- Write summaries of existing structural engineering information
- Support the development of building safety case reports
- Conduct site inspections and provide reports
- Review systematic risk assessments under requirement A3 of the Building Regulations
- Interpret data from external wall investigations
- Monitor projects and apply relevant regulations, guidance, and best practices to ensure structural safety in buildings
IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Experience in a Structural Engineering Consultancy
- Skills in structural scheme design, optioneering, and justification of structural options
- Ability to perform hand calculations and interpret FEA software output
- Knowledge of disproportionate collapse solutions and detail drawings
- Experience as the main point of contact in multi-million-pound projects, ideally residential
- Extensive knowledge of structural refurbishment works and major extensions
- Awareness of the Building Safety Act, including the Gateway 2 & 3 process (advantageous)
- Sound knowledge of structural safety and engineering guidance, especially in the residential sector
- Knowledge of external wall systems and façade engineering principles
- Ability to advise on regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of geotechnics and structural fire protection
- Ability to design and specify structural remedial works for existing buildings
QUALIFICATIONS, MEMBERSHIPS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- BSc / BEng / MSc / MEng in Structural Engineering or relevant subject
- Membership in a relevant institution (e.g., IStructE, ICE)
- Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership
- Minimum 8 years of experience
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Experience with structural engineered new build, extension, and refurbishment works, ideally residential high-rise
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Drive and ambition to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
- Understanding of the legal framework, responsibilities, and accountabilities in building operations
- Knowledge of risk management in buildings
