Offering a salary of £65,000 - £80,000, this is an excellent opportunity to lead technically challenging projects, mentor engineers and play a key role in the continued growth of a well-established business. As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the electrical design and delivery of major projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, residential, education and mixed-use developments. You will be a trusted technical leader, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. The Role This position is ideal for a seasoned Principal Electrical Design Engineer looking to combine technical excellence with project leadership and client engagement. You will lead projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high-quality design standards, successful project delivery and strong client relationships. What You'll Be Doing Leading electrical building services design projects from feasibility through to handover. Designing and reviewing power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting and life safety systems. Producing detailed calculations, specifications and technical reports. Managing project programmes, budgets and resources. Acting as a key point of contact for clients, contractors and design teams. Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers. Supporting multidisciplinary project coordination. Assisting with bids, fee proposals and business development activities. Ensuring compliance with current regulations, standards and best practice.What You'll Need Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Strong experience within a building services consultancy environment. Previous experience at Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer level. Excellent technical knowledge of electrical building services design. Proficiency with software including Amtech, Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD and Revit. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineering teams.
