Principal Mechanical Engineer – Multi-disciplinary Water Team
Location: England (Hybrid role, based at one of their UK offices)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer for one of our key clients to join their multi-disciplinary water team. This reputable consultancy firm specialises in design and engineering services across various sectors, including aviation, defence, and public infrastructure. Established over 60 years, they operate a network of offices throughout Europe. They are committed to delivering sustainable, innovative solutions, shaping a healthier, sustainable, and safer world.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Project Manager/Water Sector Director to clarify the project brief.
- Undertaking significant elements of the detailed design and the checking of outputs as directed (producing technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and designing pumping systems & aeration systems, hydraulic calculations, and production of construction drawings)
- Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment.
- Provide engineering input design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams ensuring the Clients\’ Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
- Business development- assisting the preparation of statements, expression of tenders and building relationships with both new and existing clients.
Requirements
- Experience working in wastewater infrastructure across the UK.
- In depth knowledge of the layout and interconnectivity of typical wastewater treatment works processes and equipment.
- Experienced in coaching and mentoring with excellent communication skills
- Bachelor\’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; Masters degree preferred
- Incorporated or Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution.
- Excellent knowledge of industry design software packages
