A leading UK engineering consultancy is hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer for their Birmingham office. They will deliver mechanical building services designs across a range of complex projects. The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver mechanical designs across varied project scales.
  • Act as the main client point of contact, building strong, long‐term relationships.
  • Take ownership of project briefs, ensuring quality, profitability, and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate multi‐disciplinary teams and manage internal resources.
  • Monitor project budgets and report on cost and resourcing.
  • Support bids and promote the consultancy's full service offering.
  • Mentor engineers and support team development.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer within consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
  • Experience working in multi‐disciplinary environments.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant design tools.
  • Solid understanding of British Standards and UK regulations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
